Who is responsible

What this site collects

Nothing, directly. This website is a set of static files. There is no user account, no contact form, no comment section, no newsletter sign-up and no payment processing. We do not run analytics software, advertising scripts, social media pixels or any other third-party tracking.

Cookies and local storage

This site sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device.

The light and dark appearance follows your own device setting, read through the standard prefers-color-scheme browser feature. Nothing about that preference is recorded, transmitted or saved anywhere.

Server logs

Like almost every website, this one is delivered by a hosting provider whose servers keep technical access logs. These typically record the IP address of the requesting device, the time of the request, the page or file requested, the referring page and the browser's user-agent string.

This processing is necessary to deliver the site, to keep it secure and to diagnose faults. The legal basis under GDPR Article 6(1)(f) is our legitimate interest in operating a functioning, secure website. We do not use these logs to build profiles, and we do not combine them with any other data. Log retention is governed by the hosting provider's own policy and is ordinarily a short period.

If you email us

If you write to us, we process your email address, your name if you give it, and the content of your message, for the sole purpose of answering you. The legal basis is GDPR Article 6(1)(b) where your message concerns a possible or existing agreement, and Article 6(1)(f), our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries, in all other cases.

We keep correspondence only as long as needed to deal with the matter and to meet any applicable retention obligations, and we do not add correspondents to any mailing list.

Files you download

PDFs, audio files and the simulation pack are hosted on this site and served directly. Opening or downloading them involves no third party and no additional data collection beyond the server logs described above.

Links to other sites

This site links to external services including Zenodo, Academia.edu, YouTube and Facebook. We do not embed content from them, so nothing is loaded from those services while you are on this site and they receive no information about your visit here. Once you follow a link, that service's own privacy policy applies. We have no control over, and take no responsibility for, their practices.

Sharing and transfers

We do not sell, rent or share personal data. The only third party involved in operating the site is our hosting provider, which processes technical log data on our behalf. [Country of establishment, and any resulting international transfer, once registration completes.]

Your rights

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to request access to your personal data, and to request its correction, deletion or restriction; to object to processing based on legitimate interests; to data portability; and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request its deletion, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS, so traffic between your browser and the server is encrypted in transit.

Changes to this policy

If the site changes in a way that affects privacy (adding analytics, a form or an embedded service), this page will be updated and the date below changed. Substantive changes will be noted here rather than made silently.
